Lorainne Padula Obituary
Helen Lorainne Padula passed away peacefully at her home in Willits on January 21, 2018, at the age of 100. Lorainne was born in LaSalle, Illinois on September 28, 1917, to Helen and Spencer Gibson. After graduating from high school in LaSalle, Lorainne moved to California to attend Mount St. Mary's College in Los Angeles, where she graduated with honors at the age of 19. She met her future husband, Elmer Padula, in Lindsay, California, while working as a chemist at a large olive oil plant. Lorainne came to Willits in 1948 to help Elmer with his growing lumber business, and they were married here in June of 1950. Over the years, Lorainne was very involved in their local business, as well as managing their olive and orange groves located in the San Joaquin Valley. During her time in Willits, she was an active member of Soroptimist International and St. Anthony's Catholic Church. Lorainne became an avid stamp collector at the age of 10, and it continued to be one of her favorite activities throughout her life. She also very much enjoyed reading, crossword puzzles, world-wide traveling, and spending time with her children and grandchildren. She was a devoted and loving mother and grandmother. She will truly be missed. Lorainne was preceded in death by her husband, Elmer, and her sons Robert and Larry. She is survived by her sons James Padula and Rich Padula, daughter Nancy (Warren) Coffman, grandchildren Justin, Logan, Allyson, and Kevin, and great-grandchild Finn. There will be a Rosary held at St. Anthony's Catholic Church on Friday, January 26th at 7:00 pm. A funeral Mass will take place at St. Anthony's at 11:00 am on Saturday, January 27th. Arrangements by Anker-Lucier Mortuary. Memorial contributions may be made to the Elmer Padula Memorial Scholarship Fund at the Savings Bank of Mendocino County.
