Marica A Rautenstrauch Obituary
Marcia Rautenstrauch
August 11, 1942- April 27, 2018
Marcia died peacefully at home much as she lived, humbly and surrounded by flowers from her garden. She is survived by her sister, Karen Rautenstrauch, of Rome, Italy, and her chosen family, Tara Shannon, of Willits and Oakland, Catarina and Maria Rosa Sdun of Luca, Italy, Eden Tosch of Oakland, Jill Ingersol of Galway, Ireland, Bette Mohammed of Oakland. Many blessings to all who helped her stay independent during the last few weeks, including Earline and Dejan Dykes, Ileya Stewart, Bruce Hilbach-Barger, Robin Leler, Tara, Torri, Prana, Susan and Phoenix Hospice.
Marcia was a fierce advocate for both social and Earth justice. She volunteered through all the years of her life. She taught English as a second language and Spanish literacy in Oakland, CA for many years. During her life in San Francisco and Oakland, she volunteered at KPFA, Siusun Bay restoration and protection, People's Grocery in Oakland CA, Oakland Public Library, and many other places around Oakland. When she moved to Willits in 2008, she set about creating a whole new circle of places to invest her heart and soul in. Marcia always did what she could, including supporting the Willits Library, the Grateful Gleaners, Willits Evironmental Center, Willits Food Bank, Eel River Recovery, and a long list of others. Her humor was often dry and laced with her view that humans need to do less harm, but her kindness to those in need was authentic and deep. For those of us who did what we could to make her life a positive and comfortable place, and to facilitate her participation in community and political endeavors, she was always deeply grateful. Donations to any of the above groups in Marcia's name are welcome.
There will be a memorial on Saturday May, 26, at Marcia's house from 12:00 pm to 3:00
