GAZO, John Dobonul
On January 25, 2012 surrounded by his loving family at the age of 84 at Hotel Dieu Hospital. Loving husband of Cecile and the late Dorothy June (2005). Cherished father of the late Mary Catherine Chauvin (2009), John Henry Gazo and wife Holly, Mike Gazo and wife Carmen. Special stepfather of Diane Dutka and husband Laurant, Debbie Pickering and husband Lance & Denise Robertshaw and husband Glen. Adored grandpa of Chris, Sarah, John James, Nathan, Jenna, Brandon, Alexis, Melanie, Michelle, Danny, David, Tammy, Kelly, Ian, & Ashley. Great grandpa of Nicolas, Kyle, Megan, Kiera, Emma, Lily, Bennett, Brady, Jake, Lucas, Dylan, Chase, Ryan, Abbey, Krista, Madison & Bret. Predeceased by his parents John Sr. and Anna Gazo. Predeceased by siblings Miles, Jerry, Martha and survived by Betty & Olga. Brother-in-law of John, Mike, Jim, Lillian, Patricia & Jill. Survived by many nieces and nephews. John was a school teacher for many years and retired in 1992. John was the last of many generations of brick layers and it was a life time passion. John was a troop leader for Boy Scouts Canada, a long standing member of the Windsor Marching Band, a member of the Good Neighbours Club Belle River & Lakeshore Sunset Card Club and bowled many years in the teachers league. The family would like to express sincere thanks to Dr. Luo and the exceptional nursing staff on the seventh floor of Hotel Dieu Hospital. Donations to Hospice of Windsor would be appreciated by the family. Visiting Sunday 3-5 p.m. and 7-9 p.m., Funeral Monday 1:00 p.m. at

John Gazo was both my 1st and 2nd cousin! He was 14 years older than me. When I was a young girl and a geeky teenager and always afterwards, too - he was always so very kind and gentle with me. In fact, he was one of the most gentle, kind, sweet, honorable and classy men whom I have ever known. As well, he always had a wonderful twinkle in his eye. I feel honoured and lucky to have called him "cousin" and the world will feel less of a place without his presence. I offer my sincere sympathy to his children and grandchildren and to his wife, Cecile and to his sisters, Betty and Olga.
