Rous, Agnes M.

Agnes M. Rous, age 94 of Nekoosa, formerly of the town of Rome, passed away on Sunday, June 11, 2017 at Edgewater Haven in Port Edwards.

Funeral services will be held at 11 AM on Friday, June 16, 2017 at Nekoosa United Church of Christ. Rev. Timothy Miller will officiate. Burial will be in New Rome Community Cemetery in town of Rome. Visitation will be held at church on Friday from 9:30 AM until the time of service. Feldner/Ritchay Funeral Home of Nekoosa is assisting the family. Agnes was born Agnes Mae Sutherland to Clair and Jessie Sutherland in Big Flats on January 21, 1923. She married Ben Rous on June 30, 1941 in Nekoosa. He passed away on March 26, 2007.

Agnes was a lifetime auxiliary member of the DAVA Chapter 55, the Adams-Friendship VFW Post 6279, the Military Order of the Purple Heart and the Badger State 82nd Airborne Division Association. She and Ben both volunteered at King and Tomah Veteran's Homes. Agnes was also a member of the New Rome Community Church Ladies Guild for many years.

Agnes and Ben enjoyed helping relatives, friends and neighbors. They were always finding ways to share their love, caring and talents with others.

Agnes is survived by her son Gay (Darlene) Rous of Woodbury, MN; daughter Joyce (Jim) Murray of Nekoosa; daughter in-law Patti Rous of Junction City; 6 grandchildren, Pamela Rous, Lori (Jim) Rous Power, Stefanie (Brett Rudan) Rous, Kiley (Amy) Murray, Kasey (Ashley) Murray and Sarah (Anders Andreassen) Rous; 6 step grandchildren LuAnn (Keith) Seidlitz, Patty (Craig) Liljeberg, Jeff (Val) Johnson, Brenda (Steve) Tesch, Allen (Theresa) Pederson and David (Joy) Pederson; great grandchildren, Noah (Jess) Rous-Crosby, Kyle (Laura) Gould, Areck (Samantha) Gould, Kristen (Erik) Flannery, Tessa (Eric Kohler) Murray, Kassi (Dalton) Aron, Ben Murray, Jaylah Murray, Jaxson Murray and Cameron Rudan; and great-great grandchildren, Riley, Willard, Aubrey, Miya, Sophie and Noelle. Agnes is further survived by her sisters, Elva Yohn, Helen (Ken) Smith, sister in-law, Laura Sutherland and many nieces, nephews and special friends.

Agnes was preceded in death by her husband, parents, son, Jerry Rous, great-great granddaughter, Kyla Grace Gould, 7 brothers, 3 sisters, and many, many other relatives and friends.

Mom shared her love with everyone she knew, she was quick to say I love you and she meant it. Her kitchen was the center of her home and she prepared countless delicious meals for many. She requested that her loved ones remember that you never left her table hungry and that her cookie jar was always full…don't worry Mom, we couldn't remember you any other way. We love you.
