Wisconsin Rapids - Anton "Tony" Panko, age 96, of Wisconsin Rapids, WI died Sunday, December 17, 2017 at Atrium Post Acute Care in Wisconsin Rapids, WI.

Funeral Mass will be held at 12:00 PM (Noon) Thursday, December 28, 2017 at St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church, Wisconsin Rapids, WI. Fr. Patric will officiate. Visitation will be held at St. Vincent de Paul Church on Thursday from 11:00 AM until the time of services. Burial will be at Restlawn Memorial Park. Ritchay Funeral Home in Wisconsin Rapids, WI is assisting the family.

Anton was born January 19, 1921 in the Town of Carson, Portage County, WI to Joseph Wilimczyk and Agnes Panko. He married Valeria Neises on January 20, 1940 at St. Michael's Catholic Church in Junction City, WI. They were married for 68 years until Valeria died on August 27, 2008.

Anton was raised and educated in Junction City, WI, attending Grover School. He farmed on the family farm, then owned his own farm in the Town of Eau Pleine for 6 years. In the early 1940's Anton worked for Nekoosa Edwards Paper Company and also surveyed with the Civil Engineers in Alaska. In 1946 he began working for Consolidated Papers in Wisconsin Rapids, retiring in 1983.

Anton was a member of the Knights of Columbus, Council #2534 of Wisconsin Rapids, WI. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, golfing and traveling.

Anton is survived by daughter, Darlene (Fritz) Cummings of Wisconsin Rapids, WI; two sons, Robert (Donna) Panko and Ron (Mary Jo) Panko, both of Wisconsin Rapids, WI; 10 grandchildren, Jeff, Dan, Mike, Anne, Steve and Charles Panko; Kelly Acker, Kristy Apuakehau, Molly Warren and Betsy Leonard; 9 great grandchildren; 5 step great grandchildren; 1 great great granddaughter and 2 step great great grandchildren.

Anton was preceded in death by his wife, Valeria; brother, Walter; half brothers, Joseph, Harry and Edward and half-sister, Martha Kaminski.
