Arthamae "Artie" Sadlemyer Obituary
Sadlemyer, Arthamae "Artie"

Arthamae "Artie" Sadlemyer, age 75, of Stevens Point, died August 5, 2017 at St. Joseph's Hospital while surrounded by her loving family.

A Funeral Service will be held 11:00 a.m., Friday, August 11, 2017 at St. Paul Lutheran Church, Stevens Point, WI, with Rev. Steve Hulke presiding. A time of visitation will be held on Thursday, August 10th, from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Boston Funeral Home and at the church on Friday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service. Burial will follow the service in St. Paul Lutheran Cemetery.

Artie was born April 14, 1942 to the late Robert and Mildred (Damitz) Albert in Wisconsin Rapids, WI. She grew up there and attended St. Paul's Evangelical Lutheran School where she was baptized and confirmed. She graduated from Lincoln High School in 1960.

Following high school, Artie attended the Evangelical Deaconess Hospital School of Nursing in Milwaukee, WI. She returned to Wisconsin Rapids and became the head nurse in the O.B. department at St. Michael's Hospital, Stevens Point, WI.

She married James F. Sadlemyer on May 4, 1963 at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Wisconsin Rapids, WI. They later moved to Stevens Point and raised a family. They were blessed with 47 years of marriage until his passing on June 6, 2010.

While at St. Michael's Hospital, Artie's hard work and dedication within the department allowed her to begin the community's first prenatal program. Artie enjoyed her work in the O.B. department, but she eventually redirected her focus and began a career in Infection Control in 1974. While still working at St. Michael's, Artie furthered her education and received a BS in nursing from Milton College in 1982. After 42 years of dedication, Artie retired in 2006 as an Infection Control Specialist.

Artie will be remembered for her compassion, caring nature, her genuine laugh, and her ambition to help others. Family was extremely important to her and she always "made time" for her children and grandchildren; especially to attend their sporting events. Artie also loved to travel and enjoyed her numerous visits to the Door County area. She also relished going on many memorable steamboat trips with her husband, James on the Mississippi River. In her spare time, Artie enjoyed reading, cooking, sewing and doing various craft projects including making dolls and her two granddaughters' flower girl dresses. She enjoyed celebrating the holiday seasons with her family, especially Christmas. After retiring, she took great interest in researching her family history. Faith was important to her, and she was a dedicated member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Stevens Point.

Survivors include her loving children, Jeffrey Sr. (Rhonda) Sadlemyer of Plover, WI and Suzanne (Mark) Schoff of Wisconsin Rapids, WI; grandchildren, Jeffrey Jr. (Dana) Sadlemyer of Plover, WI, James Sadlemyer of Stevens Point, WI, Sara Sadlemyer of Middleton, WI, Kaitlyn Schoff and Dexter Schoff both of Wisconsin Rapids, WI: great-grandchildren, Sawyer Sadlemyer and Atleigh Sadlemyer both of Plover, WI. She is also survived by her sisters, Bobbie Wiese of Friendswood, TX and Lisa (Roger) Crump of Bradenton, FL; and beloved nieces and nephews. She is further survived by brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law.

She is preceded in death by her parents; husband; and son, Joshua.

Her family would like to thank Dr. Curtis and his staff at St. Michael's Hospital; and Dr. Wolfe, Dr. Winiarczyk, Chris, Kasey, and Julie for their care at St Joseph's Hospital.
