Conrad was born on August 1, 1932 in Wausau, WI to Bert and Virginia (Conrad) Amacher. He graduated from Medford High School in 1951. Conrad honorably served his country during the Korean War in the United States Air Force. He married Carol Chapell on June 30, 1962 and was blessed with 54 years of marriage.

He began his career as a newspaper reporter and moved with his family to Wisconsin Rapids in 1966 to work for Consolidated Papers, Inc as a Communications Manager. Conrad was instrumental in developing the weekly NewsChips newsletter and yearly employee meetings. He was also frequently seen in the mills taking pictures and interviewing employees set to begin their retirement. Conrad retired from Consolidated in 1992 after 26 years of service. He spent the next 25 years as a Florida Snowbird in central Florida.

Conrad was an avid walker, biker, bird watcher, and photographer. He also enjoyed camping with his family and discovering God's creation. He had a strong faith and served God at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Wisconsin Rapids; Woodlands Lutheran Church in Clermont, FL; and Christ Lutheran Church in Brooksville, FL. He valued the relationships he made at each of these places and treasured the memories from his time at each of these locations.

Conrad is survived by his wife, Carol; daughter, Gail; and son, Gary. He was preceded in death by his parents, Bert Amacher and Virginia Conrad.
