Donald John Lau, 84, of Wisconsin Rapids, quietly passed away Wednesday, July 26, 2017, in his home. He had been diagnosed with lung cancer 16 months earlier.

Don was born at home on May 22, 1933, to Donald George Lau and Henrietta (Loonstra) Lau. He married Beverly Annette Bruner, April 23, 1960, at the St. Paul Lutheran Church in Wisconsin Rapids.

Don is survived by his wife Beverly, his sons David and Jeffrey, and his daughters Cynthia, Deborah and Katrina. Don and Beverly have 14 grandchildren and 1 great granddaughter.

Don was an Eagle Scout who graduated from Lincoln High School in May of 1952. He was employed at Consolidated Papers until he joined the United States Navy in February of 1953, just as the Korean War was ending. He served aboard the USS Cape Cod, a submarine tender, until 1956. He returned to Consolidated Papers and worked until his retirement 43 years later. During these years, Don also served in the Naval Reserves for over 17 years.

Service were held at John J. Buettgen Funeral Home 631 E. Grand Ave, Wisconsin Rapids, WI 54494 on August 1, 2017 followed with burial and Military Honors at Restlawn Cemetery.
