Donna Louise Rickman

1932 - 2017 Obituary Condolences
Donna Louise Rickman

Winona, MN - Donna Louise Rickman, age 85 of Winona, MN passed away in peace and comfort on December 4, 2017. Donna was born on May 12, 1932 in Wisconsin Rapids, WI to the late Edward 'Ted' and Lovellia Johnson.

Donna attended Lincoln High School and was employed at the administrative office of Consolidated Papers where she met the love of her life and soulmate, Harold George Rickman. The two were inseparable until Harold's passing in 2012. While engaged, Donna and Harold proved their compatibility by building their home together, milling lumber from trees harvested from the Rickman family property.

Donna was an extraordinary mother and domestic diva who excelled in the care and nurturing of her family. The Rickman family household was the epicenter for extended family gatherings and holiday parties hosted by Donna. Many of those events were followed by ruckus singalongs with Donna at the keyboard. Donna was a master seamstress making many heirlooms cherished by her family.

The very social Donna and Harold Rickman made many close friends during their years of business, community service, square dancing, RVing and world travel. They spent the winter months of their retirement in Donna, TX and making visits to their children and grandchildren.

Donna left her children many gifts through her example of parenting, her sense of humor and appreciation of fun, charity, kindness, the strength to overcome adversity with a positive attitude, and a daily diary that chronicles the life of her family dating back to 1966.

Donna is survived by her daughter Debra and spouse Marti Ellinghuysen, and their sons Matthew, his spouse Jessica and Joseph. Son David and spouse Helen 'Lennie,' and their daughter Lisa and spouse Alex Sundin. Son James and spouse Sherri, and their children Benjamin and Alyson.

A family gathering will be held to honor Donna.

Deb, Dave and Jim offer our sincere thanks and gratitude to Sugar Loaf Senior Living in Winona for the kind and compassionate care and friendship given our mother.
