Dorothy E. Corner Obituary
Corner, Dorothy E.

Dorothy E. Corner, age 96, of Wisconsin Rapids, passed away Sunday, August 27, 2017, at Atrium Post Acute Care. Dorothy was born in Rudolph, Wisconsin on September 12, 1920, to the late Paul and Katherine (Zimmerman) Herman. She married Harold J. Corner on September 6, 1947, at SS Peter and Paul Catholic Church. After working at Consolidated Papers in the mid-to-late 1940's, Dorothy devoted herself to her family as a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. Her granddaughters and, most recently, her great granddaughter, were the apples of her eye. Among other interests, Dorothy enjoyed cooking, sewing, crocheting, quilting and crossword puzzles.

Dorothy is survived by her children, Marcia Corner of Mequon, Wisconsin, and Bruce (Marlene) Corner of Janesville, Wisconsin; her grandchildren, Mackenzie (Jeremy) Tumblin of Johns Island, South Carolina, and Kaitlin Corner of Milwaukee, Wisconsin; her great granddaughter, Harper Dorothy Tumblin; her sister-in-law, Patricia Corner of West Allis, Wisconsin; and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband of 68 years, Harold, and parents, Paul and Katherine, Dorothy was preceded in death by her infant sons, Gregory and Daniel; her sister, Alice Tomsyck; and her brothers, Clarence Herman and George Herman.

Visitation and funeral services will be held Friday, September 1, 2017 at SS Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Wisconsin Rapids, where Dorothy and Harold were long-time parishioners. Visitation at the church will be held from 9:00 AM, with mass commencing at 10:30 AM. Reverend Robert Schaller will officiate the service, with burial at Calvary Cemetery to follow.

The family would like to thank the gracious caregivers at Atrium Post Acute Care, Aspirus Comfort Care and Hospice Services, and the Retirement Community of Nekoosa for providing Dorothy with quality care during recent years, in addition to Ritchay Funeral Home for their support and assistance with arrangements.
