Doug Schill Obituary
Schill, Doug

Doug Schill, age 70, passed away unexpectedly at his beautiful lake home on Friday morning, with his loving wife Conny by his side.

Funeral services are 11:00 am Wednesday, November 22nd, 2017 at St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church in Wisconsin Rapids. Father John Swing and Father William Menzel will officiate. Visitation will be held at the Ritchay Funeral Home in Wisconsin Rapids from 4:00 to 6:00 pm on Tuesday and Wednesday at the church from 10:00 until 11:00 am. Burial will be at a later date.

Doug was born on November 14, 1947 in Wisconsin Rapids to Robert and Leona "Tubby" Schill. He graduated from Assumption High School in 1965 and Loras College in 1969. On July 5, 1969 he married his high school sweetheart, Conny Isle. They reigned as Homecoming King and Queen and were madly in love for the past 48 years.

Together, they raised five children: Rob (Linda) Schill of Wisconsin Rapids, Stephany (Ryan) Hartman of Wisconsin Rapids, Kari (Jared) Vollert of Wisconsin Rapids, Trisha (Matt) Sobiech of St. Michael, MN and Nathan (Shalynn Ferguson) Schill of Wisconsin Rapids.

Doug was co-owner of Rapids Sheet Metal Works and Point Heating & Cooling for 33 years (1982-2015). He "retired" in 2015 and had been loving life at his lake home with Conny ever since. Family was always the most important thing to Doug. He especially loved having everyone together for the holidays. He mixed the best Old Fashioneds you've ever tasted for his girls and daughter-in-laws. (Second only to Conny's recipe) And he thoroughly enjoyed every opportunity to hunt and fish with his boys and son-in-laws. He also spent hours and hours involved with youth sports, coaching his own kids and eventually watching his grandkids play every sport under the sun. He took so much pride in his family.

To know Doug was to instantly have a friend in Doug. He greeted everyone he loved with a tight hug and a kiss on the cheek. His friendships were long and lasting.

Doug is survived by his beautiful wife of almost 50 years, Conny, their five children and their families. He'll be there in spirit offering a tearful toast as his youngest son, Nathan, marries the love of his life, Shay Ferguson, on December 30th.

No one loved Grandpa Schill more than his ten grandchildren - Ellie, Kendall and Ava Schill, Elyse and Nolan Hartman, Macy and Matthew Vollert, and Charlie, Ceci and Katherine Sobiech. They had Papa wrapped around their little fingers and he adored them in return.

Doug is also survived by two sisters, Barb (Bill) Jonas and Jenny Walker, as well as four sisters-in-law and very special brothers-in-law Vicki (Gary) Utech, Anita (Mike) Sievers, Jan (John) Hamilton and Mary Beth (John) Stimac - in addition many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends that held a special place in his heart.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Leona Schill, and his father and mother-in law, Stanley and Irene Isle.

In lieu of flowers, memorials can be designated to Assumption Athletics Association or to Wisconsin Rapids Youth Sports Association (WRYSA)

Doug was a supportive and loving husband, and a wonderful role model as a Dad and Grandpa. He will be greatly missed by everyone who ever knew him.
