Edwin Morton

Chetek - It is with heavy hearts and much sadness we announce the passing of our dear brother, uncle and friend, Edwin Morton, age 83 of Chetek. Ted passed away peacefully on Monday, November 6, 2017 at Mayo Clinic Health System in Eau Claire after suffering several heart attacks in a few short weeks. Ted was the son to the late Robert and Elizabeth (Bridger) Morton and was born in Kenora Ontario Canada on December 13, 1933. He graduated from Kenora High School and after graduation went to work at the mill and railway. He met his beloved wife Sue and they lived a wonderful 42 years together. After their marriage, he was called to serve in the US Army and stationed in Germany where he and Sue spent a year (1962 -1963). Ted went on to graduate from the University of Minnesota with a Bachelor of Science degree in Forest Product Engineering in 1967. After graduating from the University of Minnesota they moved to Wisconsin Rapids / Nekoosa area where he began his career at Consolidated Papers Inc. (CPI) in various positions until his retirement in 1990 after more than twenty three years. They built their retirement home in Chetek - taking nearly five years to build as Ted did the majority of the work himself. Ted was an avid hunter and fisherman and spent many hours with his good friend and fishing buddy Bill Gabryluk from Kenora (1933-2016). He is survived and will be greatly missed by a brother, Roderick (Ines) Morton, sister-in laws, Margaret (Perzel) Jocelyn, Helen (Perzel) Gable, Bertha Morton; and numerous nieces, nephews, and good friends Mike and Carol Anderson and Jeff and Gail Olson. Besides his parents, he was preceded by his loving wife, Sue on December 24, 2002, brother Bob and sisters Barbara Kempt and Kathleen Bowles. A committal service with full military honors will be held at the Northern Wisconsin Veterans Memorial Cemetery - Spooner on Friday December 29, 2017 at 1:00pm.
