Frances A. Van Meter, age 70, of 125 Hillcrest Lane, Nekoosa, died Wednesday, April 17, 2013 at the Wisconsin Rapids Care Center, surrounded by her family.

Funeral services will be held at 11 AM. Monday, April 22, 2013 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Nekoosa. Rev. John Swing will officiate. Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery in Nekoosa. Visitation will take place on Sunday from 3 PM. until 6 PM. at Feldner/Ritchay Funeral Home in Nekoosa and Monday at the church from 10 AM until the time of service. A parish prayer service will be held at 6 PM. Sunday at the funeral home. Online condolences may be expressed at

Frances was born July 10, 1942 in Necedah to John and Blanche (Kasparek) Bagnowski. She married LeRoy Van Meter on February 20, 1960 at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church in Necedah. She was a member of the Sacred Heart PCCW, and a 20 year member of TOPS. Frances enjoyed flower gardening, cooking and baking, with pies being her specialty.

Frances was a loving wife, mother and grandmother who had a special place in her heart for her grandchildren. She was a devout woman who loved her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.

She is survived by her husband, LeRoy of Nekoosa; her three children, John (Dawn) Van Meter of Necedah, Connie (Mike) Henke of Nekoosa and Bonnie (fiancé, Ken Jaecks) Van Meter of Nekoosa; five grandchildren, Jeremy Van Meter, Kristin Van Meter, Ashley (Brad) Gotz, Alyssa (Jon) Mason and Alyson (Andrew) Allen; one great grandson, Michael Mason; one brother, Leonard (Rosalie) Bagnowski of Necedah; 2 sisters, Rose Pech of Necedah and Evelyn Pech of Nekoosa and one sister in law, Rosie Bagnowski of Nekoosa.

She was preceded in death by her parents, and one brother, Elmer Bagnowski.

The Van Meter family would like to thank the nursing staff at the Wisconsin Rapids Care Center for their wonderful care of Frances.
