Howard L. Grosskreutz Obituary
Grosskreutz, Howard L.

Howard L. Grosskreutz, age 71, of Nekoosa died Thursday August 3, 2017 at his home.

A memorial visitation will be held on Thursday August 10, 2017 from 4:00 - 6:00 PM at Feldner/Ritchay Funeral Home in Nekoosa. Online condolences may be expressed at ritchayfuneralhome.com.

Howie was born July 10, 1946 in Wakefield, MI to Fred and Alice (Hubert) Grosskreutz. He served in the US Navy from 1966 - 1969. Howie married the love of his life and best friend, Sheila Bires, on April 12, 2002 in Las Vegas. For 22 years he was employed as a city crew worker for the City of Nekoosa, retiring in 2009. He also served Nekoosa as a member of the Nekoosa Volunteer Fire Department for many years. Howie was formerly employed as a punch press operator at Preway Corporation for many years.

Howie was a genuinely good man who had a heart of gold and was always kind to everyone. He enjoyed spending time with friends, family and his beloved pets. He liked being outdoors, whether it be fishing, camping, grilling or spending time on the deck at home, all while enjoying his favorite beverage, Point Special. He loved to take road trips with Sheila and especially enjoyed vacations to Leech Lake, MN and Deadwood, SD.

He is survived by his wife Sheila Grosskreutz of Nekoosa; his children Shane Grosskreutz of Waupaca and Jami (Chris) Williams of Nekoosa; his stepdaughter Camille (Dallas) Jones of Lakeville, MN; grandchildren Dylan, Damon, Troy, Cole, Levi and Owen; brothers Larry (Clara) Grosskreutz of Babcock and Lee (Diane) Grosskreutz of Marshfield; sisters Audrey (Frank) Gasek of Medford, Marlene Gengler of Wisconsin Rapids, Veryl (Rich) Noftsinger of Navarre, OH and Lavon (Dan) Oleson of Pittsville; sister-in-law Midge Grosskreutz of Minong; mother and father-in-law Ann and Duane Oleson of Nekoosa; brother-in-law Randy (Jeanette) Oleson of Wisconsin Rapids and their children Dustin and Amanda. Howie is further survived by many nieces and nephews, and his "best buds" Cash and Capone.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers Delmar, Wayne and Ronald; his sister Arliss Fairchild, two infant brothers; and brothers-in-law Guy Fairfield and Pete Gengler.

Howie's wife Sheila would like to offer her sincere thanks to those at the Marshfield Clinic and Hospital who have provided wonderful care to Howie throughout the years, especially Dr. Yeboah and his staff, Dr. Caldwell and the wound care staff, and the nurses and staff on the 8th floor. She is also extremely grateful for the quick and compassionate response from the Nekoosa Ambulance and Police Department.
