Jon "Jack" Gilbert Kester passed away at Atrium Care Center on September 30, 2017.

He was born August 1, 1935 in Wisconsin Rapids to Kenneth and Lorinda (Eberhardt) Kester.

Jack was born deaf as a result of his mother contracting German measles. He was also diagnosed later in life with Asperger syndrome, a form of autism. When very young, he was taught to read and write and he also attended the School for the Deaf in Delavan, Wisconsin. He had an interest in electricity and did some electrical work for a local contractor and also repaired lamps, clocks and small motors. He was known for his large seasonal light decorations.

Jack lived in Kellner for nearly all of his life. After the death of his mother, he lived in various group homes until 2002 when he returned to his former home. He had some supervision by personnel of CCLS. He also worked for O.D.C. in Wisconsin Rapids.

He was a lifelong member of St. John's Lutheran Church where he had earlier been the church and cemetery custodian.

Visitation will be Thursday, October 5th, 2017 at St. John's Lutheran Church, Kellner at 10:00 a.m. with a memorial service at 11:00 a.m. Burial will be in St. John's cemetery.
