Josephine C. Fields, age 91, formerly of Port Edwards, died Friday, July 7, 2017 at Hilltop Grand Village Assisted Living in Wisconsin Rapids.

Funeral services will be held at 11 AM Tuesday, July 11, 2017 at St. Alexander Catholic Church in Port Edwards. Rev. John Swing will officiate. Burial will be in the Village of Port Edwards Cemetery. The family will greet relatives and friends at the church on Tuesday from 9:30 AM until the time of service. Ritchay Funeral Home of Wisconsin Rapids is assisting the family. Josephine was born September 17, 1925 in Nekoosa to Herman and Maria (Pape) Walter. She married Kenneth Fields on May 27, 1946 at Sacred Heart Church in Nekoosa. He died October 9, 1999.

Josephine was a longtime member of the St. Alexander Parish Council of Catholic Women and was also involved in bowling leagues and a quilting group. Most of all she enjoyed spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren.

She is survived by her children, William (Jane) Fields of Stevens Point, Mary Kay (Leon) Schmidt of Wisconsin Rapids, Patty (Gary) Buzza of Biron, and Julie Fields (Ted Nehring) of Madison; eight grandchildren, Paul (Melanie) Fields, Craig (Kaylin) Fields, Erin (Andrew) Trzebiatowski, Karl Schmidt, Mike (Brynn) Schmidt, Eric (Amy) Buzza, Katie (James) Nicholl, and Dan Buzza; and 10 great-grandchildren, Jackson, Sawyer, Breck, Rhody, Kendall, Alison, Alex, Emma, Evan, and Kyle.

Josephine was preceded in death by her husband, parents, sisters, Rose Walter, Marge Kulhanek and Catherine Konkol, and one brother, George Walter.

Josephine's family would like to thank the staff at Hilltop Grand Village, especially Penny and Krista for their dedicated care, Dr. Thomas Ho for his wonderful care for many years, Dr. Shereif Rezkalla who was her cardiologist for many years and the staffs at Aspirus Riverview Hospital and Aspirus Hospice for the care given to Josephine. The family would also like to thank her many caregivers at River Run and the Retirement Community of Nekoosa for their special care.
