Larry James Webb Obituary
Webb, Larry James

Larry James Webb passed away at home on Wednesday, August 16, 2017, following a courageous 4-year battle with cancer. Larry was born in Wisconsin Rapids, WI. to Harry and Eleanor (Mullen) Webb on July 17, 1937. On October 24,1983, he married Rochelle (Shelly) Bredlau.

Larry proudly served his country in the U. S. Navy from 1954 to 1958. Most of this time was spent on LST 1089 as Cadet Engineer. During his tour of duty, he traveled to Japan, the Philippines, Hawaii, and Alaska.

His work experience was varied including cutting pulp in Minnesota for Kimberly Clark. He also worked for Preway, Tri-City Motors, Teske Mill Works, Wollcotts, Dahlke as well as various housing contractors (as a carpenter). As a union construction worker, he helped build bridges, oil rigs, pipelines and a paper machine.

Larry's real passion was working on old cars and "Hit and Miss" engines. He was a long-time member of the Badger Steam & Gas Club and Old Spark Plug Club. Among his many collections are sparkplugs, and heaven only knows how many tools, clocks, engines, tractors and oil memorabilia he amassed.

Larry is survived by his wife of 33 years, Shelly; daughter Sandy (Jeff) Shearier, Wisconsin Rapids; sons Larry Lee Webb, New Orleans; and Jim (Lindy) Shortell, Vesper. He is further survived by his brother Dave (Gloria) Webb, sisters Elaine (Ron) Bablitch, and Carol (Rod) Schilling, brother-in-law Wally (Sandy) Schoenick 6 grandchildren, nieces and nephews and many great friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, sister Kathleen Schoenick and son Alan James.

A memorial service to celebrate Larry's life will be held at a later date.

The family would like to thank the Heartland Hospice Staff for their kind attention to their needs these past few months. They would like to express their gratitude for the support, care and concern given from their Arising Christian Church family in Friendship, WI.
