Following her graduation, Margaret went to work in Washington, DC in the office of her congressman, Thomas J. Lane. Nurre at a USO dance in Philadelphia, and the two were married on May 8, 1946. Margaret and Tom began their life together in Linwood, NJ, later moved to Downers Grove, IL and along the way raised six children, Tom Jr., John, Susan, Stephen, David and Robert. Once the youngest of the children was in school, Margaret began working in the local public school district library office and then later worked as an educator at the Morton Arboretum where Margaret's love of nature was given full expression. After Tom's retirement, Margaret and Tom moved to Wisconsin Rapids, WI and then later moved to Franklin, TN to live with their daughter Susan and her family. Tom passed away in 2012. Margaret is survived by her six children, three grandchildren and one great-grandchild. Margaret enjoyed taking many nature and art classes at The Clearing Folk School in Door County, Wisconsin.
