Marilyn B. Smolarek, age 83, of Wisconsin Rapids, WI died Friday, November 3, 2017 at the Waterford of Wisconsin Rapids, WI.

Funeral Services are 1:30 PM Wednesday, November 8, 2017 at St. Paul's Evangelical Lutheran Church, at 311 14th Avenue South in Wisconsin Rapids, WI. Rev. Martin Baur will officiate. Visitation will be at St. Paul's Evangelical Lutheran Church on Wednesday from 12:00 PM-1:30 PM. Burial at a later date at Restlawn Memorial Park. Ritchay Funeral Home in Wisconsin Rapids, WI is assisting the family.

Marilyn was born December 13, 1933 in Kiel, WI to the late Frank and Agatha (Hammer) Muehlbauer. She graduated from St. Agnes School of Nursing in Fond du Lac, WI in 1954. She married Donald Christensen in 1956 and that marriage ended in divorce. She then married Robert D. Smolarek on June 12, 1981 in Wisconsin Rapids, WI. Marilyn was a registered nurse for the Doctors' Clinic in Wisconsin Rapids, WI retiring in 1984.

Marilyn was a member of St. Paul's Evangelical Lutheran Church and was an active member in their prayer chain.

Marilyn is survived by her husband, Robert; daughter, Ann (Michael) Schlice of Wisconsin Rapids, WI; two sons, Michael (Judy) Christensen of Wisconsin Rapids, WI and Douglas (Lisa) Christensen of Berlin, WI; three step-children, Michael (Judy) Smolarek of Minocqua, WI, Patti Smolarek-Ellis of Las Vegas, NV and Jeff (Karen Scarseth) Smolarek of Wisconsin Rapids, WI; and two sisters, Joann McCurdie of Minocqua, WI and Kathy Omernik of Hobart, WI. Marilyn is also survived by many loving grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

Marilyn's family would like to thank the staff of the Waterford and Heartland Hospice for the care and compassion given to her through the years.

In lieu of flowers memorials can be designated to the St. Paul's Church Cheerful Givers (mortgage fund).
