Myrtle Ruth Peaslee, age 97, of Wisconsin Rapids, WI, died on September 19, 2017, at House of the Dove in Marshfield, WI.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 AM on Saturday, September 23, 2017 at St. John the Evangelist Episcopal Church in Wisconsin Rapids. Rev. Vicki Natzke will officiate the service. Visitation will be held at Ritchay Funeral Home in Wisconsin Rapids from 4:00 - 7:00 PM on Friday and Saturday at the church from 9:00 - 10:00 AM. Burial will be at Restlawn Memorial Park.

Myrtle was born January 14, 1920, to Archie and Margaret Snyder in Grand Rapids, Wisconsin. She attended Wood County schools and graduated from Lincoln High School in 1938. After graduation, she attended Asbury Hospital School of Nursing in Minneapolis, Minnesota. She received her RN degree in 1941. She worked in the OB-GYN department at Marinette General Hospital in Marinette, Wisconsin, for two years. In 1943 she returned to Wisconsin Rapids and worked in the OB-GYN department at Riverview Hospital.

Myrtle married Claude "Bert" Peaslee on August 19, 1944, at St. Joachim's Catholic Church in Pittsville, WI. After her marriage, she traveled with her husband to Tampa, Florida, and worked in Pediatrics at Tampa Municipal Hospital. Returning to Wisconsin Rapids, she again worked at Riverview Hospital for many years, retiring from there in 1976. After retirement, winters were spent in Dewey, Arizona, and summers in the Wisconsin Rapids area.

Myrtle was a member of St. John the Evangelist Episcopal Church and of St. Cecilia's Altar Guild. Myrtle and Claude were charter members of the Heart of Wisconsin Gem & Mineral Society; she was a member of the Golden Girls of Riverview Hospital, and a former member of the Heart O' Wisconsin Genealogical Society. While her children were in school, Myrtle was very active in the PTA. Some of her many hobbies included sewing, genealogy, and rock hunting.

She is survived by four children, James (Sherieda Bender) Peaslee of Prior Lake, MN; Susan (William) Schulte of Minocqua, WI; Robert (Beverly) Peaslee of Sherry, WI; and William (JoAnn) Peaslee of Oostburg, WI; nine grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her husband, Claude, in 2012; one infant daughter, Mary Louise; her parents; her sister Marion Willan; and one infant great-granddaughter.

The family would like to thank the Jason & Rhonda Wilcox family for their care of Myrtle after her husband's death. Myrtle moved to the Wilcox's facility, Country View Assisted Living LLC, in Arpin, WI, in February of 2012. She was treated as a member of their family and given quality care. After the closing of Country View Assisted Living, Myrtle moved to the Delaney Home LLC in Pittsville, WI, in 2016. Myrtle's family would also like to express gratitude to Tim and Melissa Delaney and their staff for the loving care and kindness Myrtle was given while a resident there. In July of 2017 Myrtle moved to House of the Dove in Marshfield, WI. While there, she was given phenomenal care to help ease her way into the next phase of her life. Words cannot express the gratitude of the family for the care their mother received.

In lieu of flowers, the family would like to request that memorials be given in Myrtle's name to St. John the Evangelist Episcopal Church in Wisconsin Rapids, WI, and the House of the Dove in Marshfield, WI.
