Norbert Joseph Bonertz Obituary
Norbert Joseph Bonertz (Norb), 95, died Friday, April 21, 2017 at The Renaissance in Wisconsin Rapids, WI. Born on July 29, 1921, in Stevens Point, WI, he was the son of the late Nicholas and Antoinette Bonertz. His parents died while he was still young and shortly after, he moved to Wisconsin Rapids and was cared for by his cousin Dorothy Ray. He attended business college until joining the army where he proudly served in the Pacific arena during World War II. He married his wife, Myrtle Louise Konash (Myrt) in 1946. He worked at F.S. Gill Paint Store, and T.C. Esser Paint, Glass and Wallpaper and as a bookkeeper at Preway, Inc. He kept active after retirement, delivering Meals on Wheels and as an assistant for Higgins Funeral Home. Norb was a lifelong member of St. Peter and Paul Catholic Church and of the Knights of Columbus. He was an avid golfer and enjoyed card games. He had a wonderful sense of humor and loved music, particularly the old favorites.
Surviving are his three children, Margaret Bohannan of Anderson, SC, Michael Bonertz and his wife Terri of Menasha, WI and Muriel Bonertz, of Minneapolis, MN and four grandchildren, Nathan and his wife, Kris, of West Bend, WI, Jessica Winterfeldt and her husband, Mark, of Menomonie, WI, Rebecca Gibson and her husband, Ray, of Apple Valley, MN, and David and his wife, Angie of Chicago, IL, and six great-grandchildren. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 62 years, Myrt, one brother, George and one sister, Margaret.
The funeral mass will be at St Peter and Paul Catholic Church at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, May 5, 2017. The family will receive friends at Ritchay Funeral Home, 1950 12th Street South, Wisconsin Rapids, WI, on Thursday, May 4, 2017 from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 PM with a Knights of Columbus Rosary at 6:30 PM. There will also be a visitation time at the church on Friday from 10:00-11:00 AM. Entombment will be in Forest Hill Mausoleum.
