Ralph Peterson, age 84, of Lakeland, Florida, formerly of Wisconsin Rapids, passed away Tuesday, June 20, 2017 at Lakeland Regional Hospital, Florida.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 AM on Thursday, June 29, 2017 at St Vincent de Paul Catholic Church, Wisconsin Rapids, WI. Father Bill Menzel will officiate the service. The family will greet relatives and friends on Wednesday, June 28, 2017 from 4:00 - 7:00 PM at Ritchay Funeral Home in Wisconsin Rapids, and again at church Thursday morning from 9:30 - 10:30 AM. There will be a prayer service held Wednesday evening at 6:30 PM. Burial will take place at Pioneer Cemetery, Town of Saratoga.

Ralph was born March 2, 1933 in Wisconsin Rapids to the late John and Gladys (Bates) Peterson. He married Arlene Joan Meller on May 26, 1956. Ralph served in the US Army from 1953 to 1955. He worked for CW Transport, the family business of Peterson Movers and McMillan Library.

Ralph was a hard-working man. In his free time he enjoyed watching the Packers and Nascar and listening to Willies Roadhouse. He could fix anything and was always helping others. His grandchildren and friends will remember him for his one liners and charging them a quarter.

Ralph is survived by his wife of 61 years, Arlene, of Lakeland, Florida. His children, Cindy (Steve) Helstad of Verona, WI, Cathy (Edward) Pelot, of Groveland, Florida, Todd (Melanie) Peterson of Cumberland, WI and Terry (David ) Illian of Lakeland, Florida. Also, foreign exchange student (son) Paul (Meggy) Maj, of Poland, 12 Grandchildren, Taylor (Sean) Terry, William Helstad, Matthew, Jesse and Kristen Pelot, Ryan Peterson, Trevor (Lindsay) Peterson, Torie Lyn Meyer, Bryan Meyer, Jamie (Sean) Krassow, Sandra and Peter Maj. 7 great-grandchildren with one more due in August. Brother Jim (Alice) Peterson, many nieces and nephews, and foster children who fondly called him Grandpa Ralph.

He is proceeded in death by his parents, John and Gladys Peterson, his son, Rick, his brother and sister in law, George (Bud) and Marilyn Peterson and his in laws, Frank and Edith Meller.
