Randolph W. Facklam, 100, Wisconsin Rapids, died Sunday, December 30, 2012 at Wisconsin Rapids Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.

Services will be at 11:00 am on Friday, January 4th at Immanuel Lutheran Church. Rev. John Grohs and Rev. Timothy Ritter will officiate. Entombment will be in Forest Hill Mausoleum. Visitation will be from 4-7 pm on Thursday, January 3rd at Herman-Taylor Funeral Home and from 10:00 am until the time of services on Friday at the church.

Randy was born in Spencer, Wisconsin on August 12, 1912 to John Herman and Hattie (Karau) Facklam. He grew up in his father's blacksmith shop, where he learned to love horses and how to shoe horses. He married Mabel Cramer on June 12, 1936 in Spencer. The couple was blessed with 60 years of marriage until her death on March 26, 1996.

Randy received a BS Degree at UWSP and a Masters Degree at UW Madison. He was employed in education for 41 years, with 32 of those years at Mid-State Technical College in Wisconsin Rapids. During his tenure at Mid-State he was involved in teaching, guidance and counseling, supervision of the continuing education program, and when he retired in 1978 he was student services administrator.

Being the history buff he was, Randy searched for historical places to visit when he traveled. He enjoyed taking trips out west and to Europe with history seeking always on his mind. He was an avid reader, loved playing bingo, golfing (even accomplishing 2 holes in one), hunting, trout fishing, cheering on the Packers, Badgers and Brewers, painting, and attending the Fireside Theater with Mabel.

Survivors include: one daughter: Carole (Paul) Knopp, Cross Plains; two sons: Randy (Nancy) Facklam, Chippewa Falls; William Facklam, Anthem, AZ; four grandchildren: Tim (Cindy) Facklam; Randy (Kathy) Facklam, all of Chippewa Falls; Leslie (Carl) Tokarek, Grand Rapids, Michigan; Graham (Eileen) Knopp, Honokaa, Hawaii, eight great-grandchildren: Ryan and Eric Facklam; Chris, Jenna and Jeremy Facklam; Hannah Knopp; and Alex and Anna Tokarek. He was preceded in death by his parents, brother, Walter and sister, Gertrude.

The family extends a thank you to special friends: Mariezita Boyles, Don and Nancy Haefner, Gene and Aileen Larson, and the staff of Wisconsin Rapids Nursing and Rehab Center.
