Goodyear, AZ - 79, passed away in his home Wednesday, December 13th.

Ron was born in Marshfield, WI on Oct 24th 1938 to Carl and Marion Altman. He was raised in Auburndale, WI before moving to Phoenix, AZ when he was in the 5th grade. While attending North High School, Ron was on the Baseball and Football teams. After graduation he attended Northwestern University and the University of Wisconsin Stevens Point. Ron worked at Consolidated Papers in Wisconsin Rapids, WI as an Analytical Research Chemist in the Research and Development lab for 40 years.

After retiring from the mill, Ron and his wife Janet moved to Goodyear, AZ into the beautiful Pebble Creek community where he spent many days on the fairway doing what he loved, playing golf. Everybody who knew Ron knew how much he loved bartending and entertaining people so it was no surprise that he continued bartending at the Pebble Creek clubhouse. He had a special knack for making people laugh and have a great time! Ron has 4 children, 6 grandchildren, and 4 great grandchildren that he loved so much. He was a Golden Glover with the Arizona Diamondbacks, the president of and played for a local softball league, a member of the Sandbaggers golf club, an active member of his church, and enjoyed playing with his sweet dog Sophia and entertaining friends at their home that he was so proud of. Ron made an impact on so many lives and will be greatly missed by family and friends.

Ron is survived by his wife Janet, daughters Cindy (Dan) McCabe, Mary Jo (Travis) Rieck, sons Bob (Kathy) Altman and Dean Altman, grandchildren Nicole and Sarah Altman, Scott (Deanna) Vanderhei, Justin Vanderhei, Trevor and Madison Rieck, great grandchildren Courtnie, Ashley, Carley and Eli Vanderhei. He is precedes in death by his mother, Marion Teske, father Carl Altman, and stepfather George Teske.

There will be a Celebration of Life for Ron on February 16th at the Eagles Nest Ballroom in Goodyear, AZ.
