Susan (Klafka) Kann Obituary
(Klafka) Kann, Susan

Susan Mae (Klafka) Kann, age 60, of Wisconsin Rapids passed away unexpectedly on Monday, July 10, 2017.

Susan was born February 27, 1957 in Wisconsin Rapids to Roman and Myrtle (Gukenburger) Klafka. She graduated from Lincoln High School in 1975. She served in the United States Army National Guard in the 32nd Infantry Brigade from 1976-1998, where she retired at the rank of Staff Sergeant. She did a tour in Desert Storm, where she earned the Southwest Asia Service Medal. Susan also earned the Army Reserve Component Achievement Medal. She lived in Washington D.C. and San Francisco.

Susan was a very outgoing person with a great sense of humor and a huge heart. Although she had no children of her own, she was like a second mom to her nieces and nephews. Susan loved to get together with family and friends and was known as the "famous host". She enjoyed traveling and spending time at the beach, especially in Maui. Susan was a person of many talents. She was not only very mechanically inclined, but she was also skilled at handiwork including woodworking, crafting and crocheting. She donated many of her handcrafted items to the VA.

Susan is survived by one brother, Bernard Klafka and his children: Tammy, Laurie, Scot, Bernie, Mark and Larry; four sisters: Beatrice Smith (special friend Maynard) and her son, Kevin, Linda (Bruce) Coenen and their children: Dawn, Diane, Cory, Casey and Crista; Ann (Kenny) Abel and their daughter, Melissa, and June (Douglas) Schneider and their children: Jerry, Tonia and Tina. She was preceded in death by her parents, brothers-in-law: Jerry Kester and Stan Smith; sister-in-law, Agnes Klafka; nephews: Mark Kester and Brian Abel; and niece, Lisa Klafka.
