Virgil "Pete" Saylor, age 81, of Nekoosa, WI died Thursday, August 10, 2017 at Strawberry Lane Medical Center, Wisconsin Rapids, WI.

Funeral Services are 11:00 AM Tuesday, August 15, 2017 at First English Lutheran Church, Wisconsin Rapids, WI. Rev. Cheryl Davis will officiate. The family will greet relatives and friends at the Church on Tuesday from 9:30-11:00 AM. Burial will take place at Riverside Cemetery, Nekoosa, WI. Ritchay Funeral Home in Wisconsin Rapids, WI is assisting the family.

Pete was born October 7, 1935 in the Town of Armenia, WI to Gilbert and Edythe (Winters) Saylor. His marriages to Jeannine Enfield and Sandra Shamel ended in divorce. Pete was employed at the Biron Division of Consolidated Papers Inc. for over 40 years retiring as a supervisor.

Pete served in the U.S. Army from 1955-1958, serving in France. Pete was an active labor leader and past president of the Wisconsin Rapids Labor Council. He enjoyed fishing, taking many trips with his friends to Canada; loved deer hunting with the company of his sons; and in later years enjoyed getting together with his sister and brother-in-law and friends over morning coffee at the restaurant.

Pete is survived by four sons, Jeffrey (Ohlie) Saylor of Wisconsin Rapids, WI, Barry Saylor of Milwaukee, WI, Dean (Heather) Saylor of Wisconsin Rapids, WI and Kurt (Connie) Saylor of Wisconsin Rapids, WI; daughter, Tammy Saylor of Wisconsin Rapids, WI; six grandchildren, Crystal, Abbi, Rachel, Paige, Dylan and Zachary; and one sister, Lou Ann (Erwin) Schroer of Wisconsin Rapids, WI.

Pete was preceded in death by his parents and brothers, Gilbert, Arno, Chuck, George "Bud" and Wayne.
