Johnson, Lavern D.

Lavern D. Johnson, age 85, of 1750 2nd Avenue South, Wisconsin Rapids, WI died Thursday, April 24, 2014 at her residence.

Funeral Services are 11:00 AM Monday, April 28, 2014 at St. Lawrence Catholic Church, Wisconsin Rapids, WI. Rev. Rolando Onden will officiate. Visitation will be at St. Lawrence Church on Monday from 9:30-11:00 AM. Burial at a later date at Calvary Cemetery. Ritchay Funeral Home in Wisconsin Rapids, WI is assisting the family.

Lavern was born April 21, 1929 in Loyal, WI to Alfred and Clara (Franz) Gray. She married Earl P. Johnson on December 31, 1949 at Saints Peter & Paul Catholic Church, Wisconsin Rapids, WI. He died in 1961. Lavern was the receptionist at the Opportunity Development Center in Wisconsin Rapids, WI for 15 years retiring on June 30, 1991. She had a profound faith and love for her family and friends. Lavern also enjoyed reading, going for walks and traveling.

Lavern is survived by two sons, Donald (Linda) Johnson of Coeur D' Alene, ID and Randolph (Jocelyn) Johnson of Wisconsin Rapids, WI; five daughters, Judy Johnson of Wisconsin Rapids, WI, Julie Baumgart of Nekoosa, WI, Pamela (Mark) Pester of Merrill, WI, Debra (friend- Harlan) Nelson of Port Edwards, WI and Laurie (Roger) Behm of Wisconsin Rapids, WI; one sister, Gerry Gendreau of Pequot Lake, MN and daughter in law, Lori Johnson of Wisconsin Rapids, WI.

Lavern is also survived by 23 grandchildren; 30 great grandchildren and sisters in law, Jane Gray, Ruth Boelter, Dorothy Leitz, Katherine Grimm and brother in law Victor Jadack.

Lavern was preceded in death by her parents, son, Earl, brother, Kenneth Gray and many brother and sister in laws.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be designated to the UW Cancer Center at Riverview Hospital.
