Turner, John

John "Jack" Turner 80, passed away peacefully with his family by his side on June 29, 2014 at Rapids Care Nursing & Rehab Center in Wisconsin Rapids. He was born on July 7, 1933 in Stevens Point to the late Ralph and Marie (Betlach). John married the love of his life Elizabeth on July 18, 1953 and together they raised seven children. He worked for Consolidated Papers for 39 years in the shipping department. He retired in 1994 as the Shipping Superintendent. He was the public address announcer for the Wisconsin Rapids Twins for 15 years. He was an avid sports fan all of his life. He enjoyed watching the Brewers, Packers and local sporting events. He found a passion for trout fishing on the area ditches.

He is survived by his wife Elizabeth, children; Glenn ( Dawn) Turner, Wis. Rapids; Barbara McLellan (Peter Gee) town of Rome; Jill (Steve) Kinney, Wis. Rapids; Mark (Cindy) Turner, AZ; Tim Turner, AZ;; Eric (Kris) Turner, Marshfield; Mike Turner, Michigan . One brother, Randy (Marcy) Turner; three sisters; Diane (John) Goomey; Sandra (Travis) Pannell; Susan (Roger) Powers; 8 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren.

He is preceded in death by his parents; Ralph and Marie and one sister Cindy Rokus.

Service will be on July 2, 2014 at Higgins Funeral Home at 12:00 p.m. with. Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service.
