Kohnen III, William H. "Billy"

William H. "Billy" Kohnen III, age 42, of 2621 10th Street South, Wisconsin Rapids, WI died Sunday, November 4, 2012 at the Palliative Care Unit of St. Joseph Hospital, Marshfield, WI following complications of neurofibromatosis.

Funeral Services are 11:00 AM Wednesday, November 7, 2012 at St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church, Wisconsin Rapids, WI. Rev. John Steiner will officiate. Burial will take place at Restlawn Memorial Park. Visitation will be held at Ritchay Funeral Home in Wisconsin Rapids, WI from 4:00-8:00 PM Tuesday and Wednesday at the Church from 10:00-11:00 AM.

William was born July 28, 1970 in Wisconsin Rapids, WI to William and Carol (Smith) Kohnen Jr.. He was employed at the Opportunity Development Center, West Grand IGA and at the Chalet. When still able, William loved playing sheepshead and going boating at the Kohnen cottage on the Wisconsin River. He rode his bike frequently to his favorite stores. William loved to read and had over 500 books, but his most important book was his Bible. He had binders full of scriptures written down that were Greek to us but made absolute sense to him. While not physically able to compete in sports, William loved the Milwaukee Bucks, the Milwaukee Brewers, the Green Bay Packers, UW- Madison football and basketball teams, Indy car racing in Milwaukee and going to UW-Stevens Point men's and women's basketball games with his Dad.

William is survived by his father and stepmother, William and Bette Kohnen Jr.; sister, Nicole (Jason) Ellis of Almond, WI; niece, Velvet Ellis of Almond, WI; stepbrother, Kraig Kauth of Clintonville, WI; stepsister, Kristin Kauth of Las Vegas, NV; step nephews, Clayton and Clinton Kauth and step niece, Caroline Kauth; and also survived by aunts, uncles and other cousins.

William was preceded in death by his mother, Carol; grandparents, William and Doris Kohnen and Richard and Marge Smith.

In lieu of flowers, memorials can be designated to Opportunity Development Center, St. Vincent de Paul Church or to a .
