Sharon Ann (Charlie) Benson, 70 formerly from Pittsville, Wisconsin passed away on April 30, 2013. She had been a resident at the Bethel Nursing Home since February 2006.

Sharon was born on October 10, 1942 in Madison, Wisconsin to Earl and Rose (Disch) Ethridge. She attended Belleville High School and went on to earn an associate degree at MATC. She was then employed by Dane County in the Outreach Program.

In 1977, she and her sons moved to Pittsville, where she owned and operated Charlie's half Dollar Saloon and later tended bar in several Pittsville establishments. Her last position before her retirement in 2002 was working for the Wood County's Division on Aging as a lunch site coordinator at the Arpin and Pittsville lunch sites. She also delivered meals to those home bound.

She is survived by her three sons; James (Mary) Bakken, Stevens Point, WI, John Bakken, Pittsville, WI and Rob (Trudi) Bakken, Arpin, WI. Four grandchildren, Promise & Randall Bakken, Mindy and Reese Bakken and two great-granddaughters; Janell and Jaylynn Bakken. She leaves behind three sisters; Shirley (James)Cook, Monroe, WI, Helen Reinhardt, Belleville, WI, and Sue (Steve) Yaeger, Oregon, WI and two brothers; Harry (Judy) Ethridge, Catoosa, OK and Phillip (Laura) Ethridge, Apple Valley, CA.

She is preceded in death by her parents and a step-brother Marvin Giesler.

Services will be at the Pittsville United Church of Christ, with Rev. Wanda Veldman officiating. Friends and family are invited to come celebrate Sharon's life for an evening on Friday, May 3, 2013, visitation from 4:00 pm until 7:00 pm and memorial service at 7:00 pm. Higgins Funeral Home is assisting the family.
