Carl Estep Obituary

Carl L. Estep, age 64, of Wilmington, Ohio, passed away Tuesday afternoon, July 27, 2021 at home surrounded by his loved ones after a struggle with cancer.

He was born October 28, 1956 in Charleston, West Virginia, son of the late Van Edward Estep and Kathleen Mae (Rainey) Estep of Blanchester.

On March 3, 1978 in Wilmington, he married Ellen L. Shelton Estep, who survives.

After over 31 years of service, Carl retired from the City of Wilmington as the crew leader in the Sanitation Department.

His pride and joy was restoring his 1963 Chevy Truck and he enjoyed being with his family outside fishing and hunting and being with nature.

In addition to his wife and mother, other surviving family members are his son, Rusty (Jody Kingery) Estep, Wilmington; daughter, Kathy (Johnny Lake) Estep, Sardinia; four grandchildren, Jordan Mowrey, Kaley Frump, Colton Estep, and Caulin Estep; sisters, Nancy (Larry) Jarvis of Fairmont, W.Va. and Karen Johnson of Wilmington; and brothers, Robert Estep of Wilmington, Gary Estep of Hillsboro, Steven Estep of Leesburg, Jeffrey Estep of Wilmington, and Jim (Paulette) Lowe of Clarksville, Tenn.

In addition to his father, Carl was preceded in death by his brothers, Larry and Rickey Estep.

Funeral Services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, August 2, 2021 at the Fisher-Edgington Funeral Home, 97 W. Locust St. at North Mulberry Street, Wilmington, with Pastor Billy Shaffer officiating. Interment will follow in the Sugar Grove Cemetery, Wilmington.

Friends will be received from 2-4 p.m. Sunday, August 1 at Fisher-Edgington Funeral Home.

Contributions in Carl's memory may be made to the City of Wilmington Parks Department, 69 N. South St., Wilmington, OH 45177, to support the mission of our community to enhance being outside.

Carl will be missed by many friends and family. God sure did get one of the good ones, Heaven got more beautiful when Cael arrived. I'm pretty sure when my Dad seen Carl in Heaven, he was sad and heartbroken to see him, but I'm sure they got right to work on some pretty cool cars and trucks. Carl was like a son to Dad and Mom and a brother to my sister, myself and our younger brothers, He was and will always be our family. Ellen, Kids, and grandkids, Our hearts are broken and our Prayers and Thoughts are with all of you, we are so very sorry. We love you all.
