MANCHESTER Dale E. Deardorff, 83, passed away at 11:02 a.m., Tuesday, December 17, 2013, at his home. He was the husband of Shirley J. Deardorff, who passed away on February 10, 2009. Dale was born August 21, 1930, in Mount Wolf, and was the son of the late Charles and Lottie (Hutson) Deardorff. He worked for the New Cumberland Army Depot for 32 years before retiring in 1985. He was a member of the Shiloh American Legion, Post 799; Susquehanna V.F.W. Post 2493, Mount Wolf and the Wago Club. Dale proudly served his country in the United States Air Force during the Korean War. Dale is survived by his four sons, Gary Lutke and his wife Janis of Thomaston, Ga., Larry Lutke and his wife Karen of York, Brad Deardorff of Sarasota, Fla., and Marc Deardorff and his wife Laurie of York; his daughter, Janet Myers and her husband Keith of York; 10 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and his four sisters, Anna Diehl of Maryland, Miriam Unger and Vilma Kortie, both of York and Florence Toomey of Dover. His funeral service will begin at 11 a.m., Friday at The Diehl Funeral Home & Cremation Center, 87 S. Main St., Mount Wolf. Viewing will be from 10 to 11 a.m. Friday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Manchester Union Cemetery. Officiating at the service will be The Reverend David Slautterback from Ambassador Bible Chapel.
