THE VIEWING AND SERVICE HAVE BEEN CHANGED DUE TO INCLEMENT WEATHER. SHREWSBURY Mary Marlene Ryan, 78, of Shrewsbury, died Saturday, February 8, 2014, at her residence. A VIEWING WILL BE HELD FROM 1 TO 5 P.M. SUNDAY, FEBRUARY 16, 2014 at J.J. Hartenstein Mortuary, Inc., 19 S. Main St., Stewartstown, WITH A 4 P.M VIGIL. A FUNERAL LITURGY WILL BEGIN AT 2 P.M MONDAY, FEBRUARY 17 at St. John the Baptist Roman Catholic Church, 315 N. Constitution Avenue, New Freedom, with the Rev. Joshua R. Brommer officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery following the service. Mary Marlene was born February 11, 1935, in Pittsburgh, a daughter of the late James Vincent and Anna May (Joyce) Herbert. She was the wife of the late James Ryan. Mary Marlene was a member of St. John the Baptist Roman Catholic Church, New Freedom, and a former member of the church choir. She was also a member of New Freedom V.F.W. Post 7012, and a former member of T.O.P.A.S.Y.C. She retired in 1996 from Point Breeze Credit Union in Hunt Valley, Md. Mary Marlene enjoyed skiing, camping with the neighbors and was an avid reader. Mary is survived by her children, Timothy Ryan of Shrewsbury, Beth Ann Ryan of Baltimore, Md., and William H. Ryan and his wife, Kristina of Annapolis, Md.; one grandson, Max Ryan; and her beloved dog, Casey. She was preceded in death by a sister, Patricia A. Summerville.
