Alvin J. Knaub Jr.

YORK Alvin J. Knaub, Jr., 79, formerly of York, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, December 11, 2012, at Colonial Manor after a courageous battle with cancer. Born on May 20, 1933, in Conewago Twp., York County, he was the son of the late Alvin J., Sr. and Rosie H. (Miller) Knaub. He attended Finks one room school for eight years of schooling. Alvin honorably served his country in the U.S. Army from 1954-1958 during the Korean War Era. He resided in Honeyville, Lycoming County, where he enjoyed hunting, fishing, and just meandering around at his own pace. Alvin is survived by his friend, Becky Markel of Felton; a daughter, Melody Knaub of York; two sons, Greg Markel of Felton and Timothy "Jake" Knaub of York; two granddaughters, Amanda Knaub of York and Danielle Markel of Felton; three sisters, Anna Leicht and husband, Bill of Manchester, Margaret Stahle and husband, Philbert of York, and Sarah Wolf of York New Salem; and a host of nieces, nephews. He was preceded in death by four siblings, Charles H. Lauer, Sr., Kenneth Knaub, Esther Embich, and Ruth Wampler. At Mr. Knaub's request, following cremation there will be no services. The Gladfelter Funeral Home, Inc., York, is entrusted with the arrangements.
