Clair R. Billet

MOUNT WOLF Clair R. Billet, 85, died at 5:55 p.m. Tuesday, September 4, 2012, at the Lebanon VA Medical Center. He was the husband of Betty M. Billet, with whom he shared 53 years of marriage at her passing in April 2007. There will be no viewing. Following cremation with Workinger-Semmel F.H. & Crematorium, Inc., York, a graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, September 13, at Mount Zion Cemetery with the Rev. Richard B. Starr, pastor of Christ Lutheran Church in Starview, officiating. A procession will form at 10:45 a.m. at the entrance to the cemetery. Mr. Billet was born February 2, 1927, in York, and was the son of the late Harvey J. and Nettie (Wolf) Billet. He was a welder and layout man with various fabrication shops. He had spent five years in Quincy Orphanage and was a graduate of York High Class of '47. He joined the U.S. Navy at the age of 17 and was honorably discharged July 4, 1946. Mr. Billet was a former member of the Starview Sportsman Club, loved sports, baseball (the Phillies), football (Penn State), trout fishing, and hunting with his wife. Mr. Billet is survived by two daughters, Debra Waddington of Red Lion and Diane Flick of Havre de Grace, Md.; several grandchildren and great grandchildren; four step grandchildren; seven step great-grandchildren; and a stepdaughter, Donna M. Cherry of Selbyville, Del. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Lebanon VA Medical Center, 1700 S. Lincoln Ave., Lebanon, PA 17042.
