Eugene F. "Ted" Bentzel

YORK Eugene "Ted" Field Bentzel, 93, died on Friday, November 8, 2013, at York Hospital. He was the husband of Mae Bentzel and the late Inid Bentzel. Born on February 2, 1920, in Shiloh, he was the son of the late Curtis and Margaret (Jacobs) Bentzel. He was a welder for the former Allis-Chalmers. Eugene served in the U.S. Army during World War II. He was a lifetime member of the York Riflemens and served with the York County Veterans Honor Guard. He was an avid golfer. He is survived by two daughters, Jean E. Rudisill and her husband, James of York, and Carol A. Shivley of York; four grandchildren, Christopher and Brandon Rudisill, Robin Mansberger, and Dan Shivley; and four great-grandchildren, Sydney and Allyson Rudisill and Shean and Ian Mansberger. A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, November 12, 2013, at 1:30 p.m. at the Etzweiler Funeral Home, 1111 E. Market St., York, with the Rev. Paul Baughman officiating. A viewing will be held from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Prospect Hill Cemetery with graveside military rites conducted by the York County Veterans Honor Guard. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to the York Health Foundation Palliative Care Program, 912 S. George St., York, PA 17403.
