Helen J. Pines

YORK Helen Brewbaker-Murray-Pines, born August 29, 1939, passed away peacefully on Thursday, November 15, 2012, at home. Helen was the daughter of the late Charles R. and Helen R. Brewbaker. Helen was part of the class of 1957 at Cumberland Valley High School, where she earned ribbons for her athletic contributions, pins for her business achievements, and CV letters from the bandfront. Helen worked four years at Weis Markets and four years at Pennsylvania Blue Shield before transferring to Capital Blue Cross in 1968, where she put in 33 years of service before retiring. Positions held at Capital Blue Cross were Executive Secretary, Receptionist, Customer Service Department, Marketing Department, and Word Design. While at Capital Blue Cross, she took classes at Thompson Business School and HACC. Helen loved to travel, especially to the beach. Other hobbies included dancing, roller skating, swimming, skiing, camping, fishing, and playing golf. Helen is survived by her companion, Edward Stude of York; sons, Edward Pines of Mechanicsburg and David Pines of Gettysburg; daughters, Debra Whisler and husband, Milton of York, and Denise Kintzer and husband, Tom of Fredericksburg. Also surviving Helen are her granddaughters, Amber Kintzer of Fredericksburg and Nicole Fuller of York; one great-granddaughter, Kaitlynn Fuller of York; sisters, Virginia Swartz and Janet and husband, Robert Findley, both of Mechanicsburg, and Geraldine Eyler of Camp Hill; as well as several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Tuesday, November 20, at Malpezzi Funeral Home, 8 Market Plaza Way, Mechanicsburg. Burial will take place in Trindle Spring Cemetery. There will be a viewing Monday from 6 to 8 p.m. as well as from 10 to 11 a.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
