Hester Hoover

HARRISBURG Hester Hoover, 74, was ushered to heaven by the Lord's angels on Tuesday, January 8, 2013, from her home, after a courageous battle with illness. She was the companion of Earl Hoffman with whom she shared twenty five years and the widow of Kenneth Hoover who passed on September 5, 1986, with whom she shared twenty five years of marriage. Born on January 27, 1938, in York, she was the daughter of the late Rosetta (Wolf) and Melvin Keller. She was a member of the Stonepile Church in Red Lion and the Pine Street Presbyterian Church in Harrisburg. She was employed by several restaurants and helped people clean their homes after Hurricane Agnes. Mrs. Hoover was a very caring and giving lady, who will be deeply missed by those whose lives she touched, especially her family. She leaves to cherish her memory,her companion, Earl Hoffman of Harrisburg; two daughters, Doris Olewiler and husband, Greg of Jacobus and Judy Workinger and husband, Dan of Mt. Wolf; two sons, Wilbert Hoover of York and Billy Hoover of Red Lion; eight grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; two brothers, Melvin Keller of Red Lion and Eugene Keller of York. A viewing will be on Sunday, January 13, 2013, from 5 to 7 p.m. at the Gladfelter Funeral Home, Inc., 822 E. Market St., York, 17403. The Celebration of Life Service will begin at 7 p.m., with Pastor Craig Whitney, officiating. Interment will be on Wednesday January 16, 2013, at 10:30 a.m. at Indiantown Gap National Cemetery, she will be laid to rest with her late husband. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be sent in care of the funeral home.
