Janet L. Sipe

WRIGHTSVILLE Janet L. Sipe, 90, died Thursday, September 5, 2013, at York Hospital. She was the wife of Harold A. Sipe, who died in 1971. Born September 19, 1922, in Highmount, York County, she was the last surviving of 16 children born to the late J. Kerwin and Maude (Tracey) Armold. Janet retired after over 30 years of employment from The John Wright Company as a hand painter. Following her retirement, she worked as a packer for Hellam Hosiery. Janet was a lifetime member of Fairmount United Methodist Church. She attended the one-room Houser School. Her hobbies included crocheting, collecting dolls, painting ceramics, playing cards, and dice, and watching WWF wrestling. Janet's passion was spending time with her family, especially having Sunday dinners at her home. She is survived by a daughter, Peggy McElroy of Wrightsville; a son, Gregory Sipe of Wrightsville; four grandchildren, Sheri McElroy, Kelly McElroy, Shawn McElroy, and Melissa Morgan, all of York County; seven great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held Monday, September 9, 2013, at 11 a.m. at Fairmount United Methodist Church, 5835 Furnace Road, York, with Pastor John W. Bell, her pastor, officiating and Pastor Bill McNeal assisting. Burial will be in Susquehanna Memorial Gardens. A viewing will be held Monday from 10 to 11 a.m. at the church.
