Levere W. King Sr.

YORK Levere W. "Sonny" King, Sr., 79, was called home by his Lord Jesus on Saturday, April 20, 2013 from the York Hospital. He was the husband of Grace (Sipe) King with whom he shared 50 years of marriage. Born on June 12, 1933 in York County, Sonny honorably served his country in the U.S. Army during the Korean War Era. He was employed for many years as a roofer for Long's Roofing, after which, he was a self-employed roofing contractor. Mr. King attended West Side Baptist Church. "Pop" as he was fondly known by the family, leaves to cherish his memory, five children: Levere "Sonny" King, Jr. (companion Julie Shenberger) of Seven Valleys, Dorise King Bonner of York, Donald "Doc" King (wife Roxanne) of Dover, Brian King Sr. (wife Wendy) of York, and Scott King (fiancee Sherry Missinger) of Dover; two stepchildren, Patricia Sprinkle (husband Ron) and Robert Walgomuth (wife Tammy), all of Seven Valleys; grandchildren: Tori King, Danielle Hoover, Kayla Hoover, twins - Jason and Justin King, Elizabeth King, Rebecca King, Brian King Jr.; step grandchildren, Zachary Friese, DeeDee, Rhonda, Ronnie, Sara, Jamie, and Matt; three great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by a stepdaughter, Linda Weiser; a stepgrandson, Gary Weiser; and siblings, John and Lillian King. A viewing will be held from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Thursday at the Gladfelter Funeral Home, Inc., 822 E. Market St., York. The service will begin at 1 p.m. Thursday. Interment will be in Mt. Rose Cemetery with full military rites by the York County Veterans Honor Guard.
