YORK Robert William "Bob" Gotwalt, 92, died at Memorial Hospital of York on Tuesday, January 29, 2013. He was the husband of Dorothy Virginia (Smith) Gotwalt, with whom he observed their 65th wedding anniversary on February 14, 2012. Born January 11, 1921 in York, he was the son of the late Thomas and Lilly K. (Smith) Gotwalt. He was a U.S. Army veteran of WWII. Bob and his brothers co-founded Gotwalt Brothers Construction Co., which later became Go-Len-Co, Inc., where he worked until his retirement. Several years following his retirement, the company was sold to Kinsley Construction. He was also a former partner of Henry Tire Co. in West York and Imagineered Signs and Display in York. He was a member of Yorkshire United Methodist Church, the I.O.O.F. Mount Zion Lodge #74 of York and Mount Vernon Encampment #14 of York. In addition to his wife, Bob is survived by a son, Robert William Gotwalt, Jr. of Camp Hill; a daughter, Beverly Ann Silar and her husband Robert William of York; and a grandson, Robert William Silar, II of Concord, N.H. He was preceded in death by a son, Barry Lee Smith. A graveside service will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, February 5, 2013 at Prospect Hill Cemetery, 1200 Block of Pennasylvania Ave., York, with his pastor, the Rev. Dennis A. Hummel, officiating. Friends and guests should meet at the Pennsylvania Ave. entrance to Prospect Hill Cemetery by 1:50 p.m. on Tuesday. Military rites will be performed by the York County Veterans Honor Guard. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Diabetes Association, 3544 N. Progress Ave., Harrisburg, PA 17110. Etzweiler Funeral Home, 1111 E. Hi, Bev, I was sorry to read about your dad's death. It looks like he was an active man in his day and I'll bet that you were the apple of his eye! Our thoughts and prayers are with you as we know how hard it is to lose parents.

My thoughts and prayers are with you all. Words cannot express how much of an impact Mr. Gotwalt had on my life. I will miss our conversations we had daily and how we always joked with one another!! After while crocodile and see ya later alligator, I will always hold a special place in my heart for you. God bless
