I knew him as "Rit the Record King" from Sol Kessler's. He brought so much joy to my life during my younger years. He was always smiling and joyful and never too busy to spend some time with you talking music. I have never met anyone quite like this gentleman. I know he will be dearly missed. My thoughts and prayers go out to his family. R.I.P. Rit. GOD BLESS

My Condolences to all of Rit's family and loved ones. He was one of the best memories of my growing up in York. I always enjoyed seeing his smiling face and chatting with him in my father's store. When I was working there during summer vacations I spent most of my time learning about different musicians and music from Rit, who knew everything there was to know about records, new releases, etc. My siblings and I lost touch with him over the years, since we all moved away from York but I will never forget him and what a big part of our lives he was and also to the York community.

Deepest condolences to the Ritter family. Rit (the Record King) was big part of my growing up and education. As my first boss (which couldn't have been easy for him, since I was his boss's son), he taught me invaluable things about customer service, salesmanship, organization and respect for all kinds of people, always with kindness, enthusiasm and humor. Rit also fostered in me, like in so many others, a love of all kinds of music. Much is rightly said about Rit's knowledge of and love for jazz, but he had a wealth of knowledge and appreciation for other genres as well. Although we hadn't been in touch, I think of Rit, his smile and his laugh often. Rest in peace, my man. Bob(by) Kessler

Rit was a big part of my life. He was my first boss when I worked in my fathers store ( Sol Kessler). He knew about every kind of music and taught many people to appreciate jazz.
He was a true original. There will never be another RIT THE RECORD KING !
My condolences to all who loved him.
