Richard Kelly Obituary

Richard F. Kelly, 85, died Sunday July 4, 2004 at ManorCareSouth. He was the husband of the late Dorothy (MacDonald) Kelly, with whom he was mar ried to for 55 years. Richard was born July 11, 1918 in Philadelphia, the son of the late Thomas and Kathryn (McNally) Kelly. He worked at York International and retired in 1980 as VP in Sales with over 30 years of service. He was a member of St. Patrick Church where he was a former member of the church council and a teacher of religious education. He was a member of S.C.O.R.E. and a graduate of both West Catholic High School in Philadelphia and University of Pennsylvania. A visitation will be from 9 to 10 a.m. Thursday, with a Mass of Christian burial to follow at 10 a.m., at St. Patrick Church 231 S. Beaver St., with his nephew, the Rev. Patrick Lamb, as celebrant. Burial will follow in Holy Saviour Cemetery. The John W. Keffer Funeral Home Inc., 902 Mt. Rose Ave., is in charge of arrangements. Richard is survived by two sons, Richard F. Kelly Jr. of Pittsburgh and Robert P. Kelly of Tampa, Fla.; a daughter, Marie Louise Bell of York; nine grandchildren; and a greatgranddaughter. He was preceded in death by three sons, Christopher Kelly, David Kelly and William Kelly; and a daughter, Kathleen Kelly. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to Msgr. Thomas Brenner Education Fund, St. Patrick Church, 231 S. Beaver St., York, PA 17403; or to your favorite charity in Richard's name.

When I think of Uncle Richie, he brings a smile to me. Never once did I ever see Uncle Richie without a smile. It was contagious! The world has one less smile on it but hopefully all of us will carry on his "great work".
