SEVEN VALLEYS Arthur E. "Art" Keeny, 78, died Wednesday November 14, 2012, at his home following a courageous battle with cancer. He was the husband of the late Helen L. (Hengst) Keeny. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Monday, November 19, 2012, at the Geiple Funeral Home, Inc. 53 Main St., Glen Rock, with the Rev. John C. Dorr Jr. officiating. Burial will be in Codorus Church of the Brethren Cemetery. Viewings will be held from 5 to 8 p.m. Sunday and from 1 to 2 p.m. Monday at the funeral home. Mr. Keeny was born on February 18, 1934, in Springfield Township, a son of the late Wilson A. and Beulah E. (Keeny) Keeney. He retired in 1989 from the Jacobus Plant of AMP, Inc., where he was employed as a Mail Truck Driver for many years, and had also worked part time as a Truck Driver with the former H.L. Sterner's Oil Company, Seven Valleys. He was a U.S. Navy veteran, having served during the Korean War. He was a member of the Prince AA York and the Dallastown American Legion Post #605. He enjoyed growing strawberries and was an avid collector of many "treasures". Mr. Keeny is survived by four daughters, Deborah L. Bosley of Spring Grove, Wendy S. Bubb and her husband, Lloyd "Bud" of York, Cynthia A. Bortner and her husband, Tom of Spring Grove, and Nadine M. Kaltreider and her husband, Randy of York; two sons, Timothy L. Keeny and his wife, Sue, and Michael L. "Jake" Keeny and his wife, Deborah, both of Bailey, N.C.; 15 grandchildren; 12 and one on the way great-grandchildren; a foster great-great-grandson; three sisters, Lorraine Myers of Seven Valleys, Barbara Baker of Red Lion, and Nancy Schell of Massanutten Va.; and three brothers, Dale Keeny of Spring Grove, Gary Keeney of Loganville, and Robert Keeney of Collegeville. He was preceded in death by a son-in-law, Larry L. Bosley Sr. Memorial contributions may be made to Heartland Hospice, 3417 Concord Road, Suite C, York, PA 17402.
