Glenn P. Lehigh Obituary
WRIGHTSVILLE Glenn P. Lehigh, 78, died peacefully at home, Sunday, April 13, 2014. Born in Hellam Township, he was the son of the late Dave and Velma (Hake) Lehigh. Glenn was the loving husband and best friend of Jessie M. (Kauffman) Lehigh; they were married April 20, 1994. He was an assembly foreman for Motter Printing in York for 32 years until his retirement. Glenn was a U.S. Air Force Veteran. He attended Canadochly Lutheran Church. Glenn was a lifetime member of the Wrightsville Fish and Game, a lifetime member of the Wrightsville American Legion, a longtime member of the White Rose Polka Club and the Dutchland Polkateers. An avid hunter, Glenn enjoyed deer hunting at the "Tyro Hunting Camp" in Clinton County, and goose hunting with his cousin Jim Hake at Muddy Run. Glenn and his wife loved to spend time in the outdoors together, hiking and picnicking along the Mason-Dixon Trail, bird watching, and spending time at Cape Henlopen State Park along the Delaware Shore. He could often be seen walking or running around Wrightsville. Glenn enjoyed gardening and doing handiwork around the house. He was a quiet, humble man that was a good friend to all and he will be sadly missed. In addition to his wife, Glenn is survived by his children, Maria Lesh of Denver, Colo.; Naomi Batiste of Aurora, Colo.; Daniel Lehigh of Wrightsville; his step-children, Ginny Carreira of Dover, Jane Cress of Marietta, Dan Wallace of Denver; his brother, Rodney Lehigh of York; his sisters, Judith Shoff of Wrightsville, Arlene Hoener of Columbia; his seven grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Ann (Furuta) Lehigh in 1986; and his brothers and sisters, David Lehigh, Robert Lehigh, Dorothy Sipe, and Betty Young. A celebration of Glenn's life will be held Tuesday, April 22, 2014, from The Clyde W. Kraft Funeral Home, Inc., 519 Walnut St., Columbia, at 2 p.m. with the Rev. Allen Schwarz officiating. Private interment in Laurel Hill Memorial Gardens will be held at the convenience of the family. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Tuesday from 1 to 2 p.m. Please omit flowers.
