Robert C. Glassick Sr. Obituary
MANCHESTER Robert C. Glassick, Sr., 88, formerly of Emigsville, passed away at 9:06 a.m. Wednesday, August 13, 2014, at Memorial Hospital. He was married to Madaline (Zeigler) Glassick, whom he married 64 years ago on July 14, 1950. Robert was born June 10, 1926, in York County, and was the son of the late Roland and Gladys (Ludwig) Glassick. He was employed for over 40 years with Borg-Warner, now Johnson Controls, as a shipping expeditor. Robert was an avid skater and played hockey with the Iceland Cubs, loved gardening, and had a produce stand in Emigsville. He belonged to the 25 Year Club of York International, Shiloh American Legion, Post 791, Hawks Club, and was a member of St. Mark Lutheran Church in Emigsville. Robert proudly served his country in the United States Army during WWII in Patton's Army, 79 division and was in the Battle of the Bulge. He received the Bronze Star Medal, European, African, Middle Eastern and Army of Occupational Medal, German Clasp, Combat Infantryman Badge 1st award, Honorable Service Lapel Button WWII, Sharpshooter Badge Rifle Bar, and Belgium Citation with two Clusters. In addition to his wife, Madaline, Robert is survived by his brother, Roland R. Glassick of Manchester. He was preceded in death by his son, Robert C. Glassick, Jr.; brother, Martin Glassick; and his two sisters, Margaret Prowell and Dorothy Glassick. His graveside service will begin at 2:30 p.m. on Monday, August 18, 2014, at Prospect Hill Cemetery. Officiating at the service will be his pastor, The Rev. Stephen Yambor, from St. Mark Lutheran Church. Full military honors will be performed by the York County Veterans Honor Guard.
