Carrie E. Smeltzer
Carrie Elizabeth ( Ehrhart) Smeltzer, 33, passed away Thursday, October 22, 2015, surrounded by her loved ones. She was the wife of John Patrick Smeltzer. The couple celebrated their 8th anniversary on July 28, 2015.
A Celebration of Life tribute service will be held at 3 p.m. on Sunday, November 1, 2015, at St. John's United Church of Christ, 161 N. Main St., Red Lion, with her Pastor, The Rev. David Tietje, officiating. Life Tributes by Olewiler & Heffner Funeral Chapel & Crematory, Inc., 35 Gotham Place, Red Lion, is in charge of arrangements.
Born December 7, 1981, in York, Carrie was the daughter of Carroll W. and Carolee L. (Frey) Ehrhart of York.
She was a lifelong member of St. John's United Church of Christ. She graduated from Red Lion High School in the class of 2000. She also coached the Special Olympics Spirit Squad and co-chaired the annual fundraiser Freezin' For A Reason Polar Bear Plunge. In her 10 years as a health, physical education and adaptive physical education teacher with Red Lion High School, Carrie touched the lives of many students. She went above and beyond to mentor and be a support to her students even when they had finished her class. She was compassionate with a love and zest for life and will be greatly missed by all whom she touched.

Carroll, Carolee, and Christian The words won't come (and you know I am rarely speechless). The first thing I think of when I think of Carrie from the Girl Scout days is her smile! I send hugs to all of you! I can not make it Sunday but as someone else said the church will be full of friends, family and many others. And those of us that can not be with you at that hour will be filling the rest of the church with thoughts, prayers, and love! Prayers, Hugs, and Love! Bertie

My son Kyle had Mrs. Seltzer for gym class. That was always his favorite class. She used to call him weasel because he would jump out of no where to catch a ball. He always talks about how much fun he had in gym class. She will be missed. My heartfelt sympathy goes out to the family. She was well loved and is truly an angel now just like she was in her life.

My daughter had Mrs. Smeltzer as her health teacher. Brooke would tell me how much she enjoyed being in her class because she made learning fun! Brooke also told me that she could always go to Mrs. Smeltzer and talk to her about anything, no matter how personal and she would listen and keep an open mind. She will be greatly missed, not only by my daughter, but everyone who knew her.

We are so very sorry to hear of your loss. May your hearts soon be filled with wonderful memories of joyful times together as you celebrate a life well lived.

John,Carrol, Carolee and family.
My heart is broken for you and your family. My prayers go out to you in the days ahead. You were blessed with a wonderful wife, daughter, teacher beloved by the entire community. Keep the wonderful memories in your heart for her children to hear over the years. No one who ever came in contact with her will ever forget her. The church is going to be too small for the outpouring of love from this community.

I remember having her as my health teacher in junior high. She made that class a blast aND nit awkward lIke most teachers wold have. I ended up moving away for 2 years, but when I came back to the high school and had her again but as Mrs. Smeltzer. Again health class was my favorite I could always go to her with a problem no matter how personal. It saddens me that I didn't keep in touch after graduation, but know she would have remembered me or any student she has ever had while being at red lion. That's just who she was. My prayers and thoughts to the family. The red lion community is here for you all.
