HANOVER Dean T. Bankert, 78, passed away peacefully Tuesday, May 7, 2013, at home surrounded by his loving family. He was the loving husband of Margaret J. (Deardorff) Bankert for 44 years. Born September 26, 1934, in Hanover, he was the son of the late Theodore Roosevelt and Lydia Elizabeth (Stonesifer) Bankert. Dean was employed for more than 30 years with Thomasville Stone and Lime prior to retiring in 1996. He was a life member of Parkville Fire Co. where he served as past President, past Chief and past Captain and also a life member of the McSherrystown Fish & Game Assn. Mr. Bankert's other memberships include: Trinity United Church of Christ, Hanover, Sinnemahoning Sportsman's Assn., Clinton Co., Mosquito Creek Sportsman's Assn., National Rifle Assn., National Trappers Assn., and the AARP. In addition to his wife, Dean is survived by his three daughters, Pamela Robison and her husband, Dwight of Hanover, Cindy Kellerman of Hanover, and Diane Eckrote and her husband, Frank of East Berlin; his son, Todd J. Bankert of East Berlin; his brother, Larry E. Bankert of Hanover; his five sisters including his twin, Jean Storm of Hanover, Shirley Ritchey of Fla., Joyce Wheeler of Hanover, Dolores Beard of Hanover, and Nadine Eller of Spring Grove; five grandchildren; six great grandchildren; his brother-in-law, Larry Klunk of New Oxford; and numerous nieces and nephews. Dean is preceded in death by his son, Andy Eugene Bankert; his brother, David Bankert; his sister, Sally Klunk; and two sisters-in-law, Jeanne and Betty Bankert. A service to celebrate the life of Mr. Bankert will be held 11 a.m. Saturday, May 11, 2013 at the Wetzel Funeral Home & Crematory, 549 Carlisle St., Hanover with Pastor Brenda Marin officiating. A time to share memories with the family and an opportunity to view will be on Friday from 6 to 8 p.m. and again Saturday from 10 a.m. until the time of the service at the funeral home. Burial will be in Marburg Memorial Gardens, Hanover. Serving as pallbearers will be Dwight Robison, Jr., Dwight Robison, III, Lance Robison, Frank Eckrote, Cory Eckrote, Jesse Bechtel, and Steve Bankert.
