Donald E. Myers
Dover - Donald E. Myers, 91, entered into rest at 1:45 a.m. on Monday, April 5, 2021 at WellSpan York Hospital. He was the loving husband of Elaine L. (Bowen) Myers. The couple celebrated 67 years of marriage on June 13, 2020.
Born October 27, 1929 in Dover Township, he was a son of the late Edwin C. and Minerva D. (Sweitzer) Myers.
Donald graduated from Dover High School in 1948 and was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War.
He retired in 1991 after owning and operating the business his father established, Edwin C. Myers, Inc.
Donald was a member of Dover Bethany U.M. Church where he was a former Trustee and had the privilege of helping build additions there over the years. He enjoyed woodworking, coin collecting, spending time at the shore and fishing. He also liked to play card games on the computer, especially Solitaire.
In addition to his wife, Donald is survived by his daughters, Debbie A. Kemper of York and Sue D. Meyer and husband, Ken of Benezette; four grandchildren, Ryne, Gage, Ashtyn and McKenzie; twelve great-grandchildren; two sisters, Norma Mummert of Hanover and Fayetta Eckenrode of Dover; a sister-in-law, Louise Myers of Wrightsville; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; son, Steven E. Myers; son-in-law, Paul J. Kemper, Jr; sister, Ruthanna Hensel; and brothers, Robert Myers and Glenn Myers.
Following cremation, relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend the service to celebrate Donald's life at 12 noon on Saturday, April 10, 2021 with the visitation from 11 a.m. to 12 noon at Dover Bethany U.M. Church, 4510 Bull Rd., Dover. Burial will follow in Dover Bethany Cemetery where veteran's honors will be presented by the York County Veteran Honor Guard. Officiating will be his pastor, the Rev. Salvatore Buonocore. Emig Funeral Home, Dover is serving his family.
