MANCHESTER Earl W. Rife, Jr., 81, died at 11:45 p.m. Saturday, March 9, 2013, at his residence. He was the husband of Norma Jean "Jeanie" (Billet) Rife. Born August 29, 1931, in West Manchester Township, he was a son of the late Earl W. and Edna (Gross) Rife. He was retired from St. Regis Paper Company, and prior to that worked for Cooper Industries. He also served in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict, and was a recipient of the Korean Service Medal with five Bronze Stars. He was a member of Saint Paul United Methodist Church, Mount Wolf VFW Post 2493, and Northern York County Game and Fish Association. In addition to his wife, Mr. Rife is survived by a daughter, Patricia A. Landis, and her husband Michael, of York; six stepdaughters, Brenda L Gay, of Manchester, Beverly A. Shank of Manchester, Sherian L. Fisher, of Knox, Pamela S. Witmer, and her husband Robert, of Etters, Teresa M. Kraft, and her husband Douglas, of Manchester, and Michelle J. Shenberger, and her husband Daniel, of Dover; one stepson, Timothy A. Leppo, and his wife Darlene, of York; one granddaughter, Ruthann; 12 step grandchildren, Jeremiah, Christopher, Kevin, Danielle, James, April, Darren, Samantha, Marcena, Dustin, Tracy and Keri; 20 step great-grandchildren; and a sister, Beatrice Kohler. He was also preceded in death by a stepson, Bryan K. Leppo; five brothers, Mearle, Paul, Bernard, Harry and William Rife; and a sister, Jennie Reese. Funeral services are scheduled for 10 a.m. Wednesday, March 13, 2013, at Saint Paul United Methodist Church, 4360 Board Road, Manchester, with his Pastors, The Rev. Chuck Sprenkle, and The Rev. Darby Nace, officiating. Viewings will be 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at William E. Little Funeral Homes, Inc., 60 S. Main St., Manchester, and 9 to 10 a.m. Wednesday at the Church. Burial will be in Suburban Memorial Gardens, with military rites presented by the York County Veterans Honor Guard. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Memorial White Rose Home Health and Hospice, 1412 Sixth Avenue, York PA 17403.
